About Lori Le Mare of Lori Le Mare Studios Inc.
Workshop Description
Over the two days, students will create 3 designs:
--the Pompeiian Ornamental Design in both
the tan, crackled version (right) and the blackened rust version (below right),
each board 20"x30", and
--a gilded Chinoiserie (below)--14"x18".
Students will choose either the tan or rust Pompeiian Design
on which to complete the handpainting. Due to time constraints, students
will not have enough time to handpaint both versions.
Also, Lori will explain,
-- how to create the leafy fresco (below left) and
-- how to create a high-gloss, lacquer-like finish using basic
products.
All pieces are to be on surfaces
supplied and prepped by the student.

Chinoiserie
Students will learn to gild and shade a gilded base to achieve a figurative
Chinoiserie* look. No texture is involved. Students will be hand drawing,
gilding, and painting on an 14"x18" polystyrene supplied and prepped by
themselves.
Click here for Chinoiserie Prep and Supplies.
How to achieve a high-gloss lacquer look using basic products will be
explained.
Lori will provide brushes for the students' use for this piece.
[*Chinoiserie---a style of ornamentation, current in 18th cent Europe,
